At nineteen, this young lady has her own views about everyday things that matter. She is a nonconformist in a way that she does not need to go with the trend to belong. She is her own self, just like she has her own sense of style and we can definitely dare say, ‘girl got style’. This free-spirited nature falls in line with her go-to quote, “To be beautiful means being yourself. You don’t need to be accepted by others. You need to accept yourself.” Senior high school student Sumaya Kamsa is the youngest from among this year’s lineup of Binibining Turismo candidates. At such a young age this binibini already has a multi-faceted personality, she is gifted in so many ways. She dances, acts, and paints. She has her own dance group whose routines she choreographs herself. She also does her own makeup and can do it for others as well. Her friends and family see her as a self-made woman. What more could you ask for from a teenage girl, right? Yes, but there’s more. She is also nothing short of a loving daughter who draws inspiration from her Mom. She says ‘her being a super Mom and a strong woman gives her the motivation to reach her goals and and ambitions, and eventually be like her.’
What is your hometown in the Philippines and tell us something about it?
“Having been born and raised in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia I have not since visited the Philippines but I truly hope to one day have the opportunity of visiting my family’s roots in our hometown of Davao Del Sur in the southern part of the Philippines. I am very much eager to learn more of and to experience first-hand my Filipino heritage as well as our native culture and traditions.”
Why do you think you deserve to win the title of Binibining Turismo Filipinas KSA 2018?
“We all deserve to win but I know and I believe I deserve the crown because I know I am a perfect example of a Filipina beauty. I will uphold the virtues of a true Binibining Turismo Filipinas in fulfilling my duties and responsibilities in promulgating Philippine tourism, heritage, culture and the real beauty of the Philippines and that is each and every Filipino and Filipina.”

People tend to make the common mistake of confusing a person with somebody they see only from the surface rather than knowing them at the level of the heart, mind, and spirit. This is true with how Angelique ‘Angel’ Gapusan’s close friends came to know and learn about her. You just need to go beyond the superficial ‘mukhang suplada’, ‘maarte’ (looking snotty and high-maintenance) stereotypes to find that the reality, is that her personality is as sweet as that angelic face. Angel is your typical girl who loves Japanese food and is addicted to everything pink. She enjoys singing, dancing, and firing. Yes, firing, as in she loves going to shooting ranges having previously worked with The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency for five years. Her stint at the agency was a job she cherished so much because it was where she learned a great deal on how to be herself and become a much better person. She is a self-confessed ‘videoke’ addict who jokes that singing those mean love songs are the best way to pour one’s broken heart out. This binibini candidate’s earlier vocation was to follow in the footsteps of her mom and grandmother who were both teachers whose careers as educators inspired her as she was growing up. But fate had other plans for her and that is to become a nurse. She is currently working as a Medical Secretary at King Abdulaziz University Hospital in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. For the Ilocana beauty, joining this pageant is a very important event in her life. More than the competition, she has found a new set of friends, a new family.
What is your hometown in the Philippines and tell us something about it?
Vigan City, Ilocos Sur
My hometown in the Philippines is in the beautiful province of Ilocos Sur, where you can find the famous Vigan City. A touch of Spanish-colonial and Asian architecture. It has was hailed as one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Ilocos Sur is also refreshing and relaxing. You can find there a lot of beautiful beaches and great tourist spots. The people are hospitable and of course, the food is absolutely amazing too! Great place, Great people, Great food!
Why do you think you deserve to win the title of Binibining Turismo Filipinas KSA 2018?
“In every contest, you will win, you will lose. that is part of our life’s journey. I think I deserve to win as Binibining Turismo Filipinas 2018 because I have self-confidence, I am true to myself, and I will also give my very best in this contest. And if you have passion, courage, and if you love and enjoy this kind of competition, everything will fall into place.”
