Cute, hardworking, and open-minded – these are just three fun facts about this Ginoo aspirant. In addition to these, Elwin Cortez’s dream job is to become a soldier. He says he has these overprotective tendencies in him that drives him to want to protect, first and foremost, his loved ones as well as other people. He has this firm belief that he would do a great job serving his country as part of its national defense. In terms of other professions, Elwin believes that he will do well as a businessman i.e. managing a business of his own but honestly swears he sees himself as a terrible teacher should he try to go into this practice. His current professional occupation is in Consumer Retail. He works as an Assistant Supervisor for Bindawood Superstore, part of Bindawood Group of Companies. He only has one sole favorite hobby which is going to the gym. He is such a fitness buff and has become a big gym enthusiast. Aside from gym, other stuff that he is most fond of doing are chatting with his family and friends on the internet. He admits spending time on social media, Facebook especially, takes up most of his time because aside from it being a necessity in his daily life it has also, for him, become a way of relaxing after a long day at work. The twenty-eight-year-old from Pampanga shares that he is most fascinated with two countries, his favorite places – New Zealand and Sweden. He would like to learn more about these two countries and hopefully, get to visit them someday.
Why do you think you deserve to win the title of Ginoong Turismo Filipinas 2017?
“To be really deserving of the title one has to give his best and show the highest level of confidence. I am willing to be a good example to my fellow young individuals as well as to everyone in our society as an ambassador of tourism.”
My Hometown
“I am from Macabebe Pampanga and I am proud to represent my hometown. Macabebe is a town surrounded by water that is why a majority of the people there are fishermen but some are in the business of making ‘bayong’ (straw bag) as their main source of living. We are also good in making delicacies such as ‘pitchie pitchie’, ‘putong maputi’ (white cake), ‘putong nasi’ (rice cake) and many more delicious Pampanga treats. We celebrate Macabebe Day every 10th of September, a celebration that lasts for 10 days where all schools whether public or private, are suspended in order for all to enjoy the occasion.”
